This is our blog. This is a way for the cast of Mandatory Friends to share their thoughts and insights into anything that strikes their fancy. Want to post a comment? Feel free. You can also visit our guestbook.
It's been a while. What's new? Last week, we celebrated our 1-year annversary of performing at the Bourbon Street. Over 50 people came to laugh, eat cake, and drink champagne. It was a night of warm hearts and bloated bladders.
Now I sit in my computer chair, molars sticky with bits of leftover trick-or-treat Butterfingers. Leftover trick-or-treat candy, as every girl knows, does not count on the calorie scale. Neither does any holiday food, including birthday cake, or anything eaten in conjunction with a diet soda (diet soda zeroes everything else out).
The holidays are careening toward us with full speed now. There's no stopping them. You can close your eyes, avoid the malls, turn off the TV...nothing will work. Somebody will come up to you at work wearing a turkey pin. You'll see the hams and Durkee Fried Onions on sale at Albertsons. You'll turn on All-Talk-Radio to get the news, only to be lambasted with twenty different renditions of "Silent Night", from Dean Martin to Stevie Nicks. Why? The Almighty Dollar. That's why.
Speaking of, everyone's all agog over the election. 2 days away. Who will it be? I have a good feeling about David Cobb, Green Party. He's the underdog, true, but we're gonna see a mad uprising come Tuesday by the treehuggers. Hippies, unite!!
